I have read about arctic expositions where the meals were all saturated with lots of butter. The fat gave them the calories needed for the physical efforts and the cold.

Wow. Were you doing scientific work, or maybe North Slope work?

Nah, early Soviet Union had a demographic policy to move all suspected untrustworthy citizens of occupied lands to Siberia. This is largely how a clearly Asian land got its white population.

I need to burn 5000 calories a day! My body would appreciate it. :o

I left Scotland because of the damp cold weather all year not just in the winter. Talked to my brother who moved from CA to CO as I was concerned how he would cope with the cold/snow. He says he doesn't mind it to much as like here it is a dry cold. -20C is easy!! At least I have a lot of built in insulation! :D

Replaced hood and liftgate struts on new to me 05 XC90 with 190k miles in December. Hood would not hold at all, liftgate was pretty weak. Each pair were $20 on Amazon and easy install, initial results were very positive, will see how long they hold up (pun intended).

Got myself a V70 last week and have been giving it a polish and wax before putting it into daily duties. I polished the sides and bonnet (hood) on Thursday and yesterday was the tailgate and roof. Next was a coat of my favourite Chemical Guys 5050 wax then onto cleaning 18 years of brake dust from the Thor wheels

That looks great!
My cars sit outside in the southern sun and have lost most of the clear coat. No amount of polishing will make them shiny and bright. I just aim for well used patina and good maintenance.
