2004 xc70 windshield wiper troubles

My windshield wiper is suddenly malfunctioning. They work normally on low speed but on high speed sometimes they dont move at all or they run slowly and then stop mid windshield. I checked the black 5prong relay in the fuse box under the hood but I understand there is a red, 6 prong relay also? Where is the red one located? Also...does this sound like a relay issue or the motor itself? HELP!

isn't it also possible the stalk is faulty.

If by stalk you mean the on\off etc. switch.....I pretty much ruled that out.
