Re: New addition, I am an Idiot!
Before anyone wastes any time on the previous post. I had a flash of insight. Out of an abundance caution I chocked the wheels and put the car in gear before placing it on jackstands. Before I can turn the motor over I have to have the tranny in neutral!!!!!!!

Before too many people waste time with the previous post, I had a flash of insight. Car was on jackstands so I had chocked the wheels and put it in gear. It dawned on me that I cannot rotate the engine until the car is in neutral (manual tranny). Feeling rather stupid!

On tune-up day for my 1800, I would put it in fourth, and just bump the whole car forward to get the next valve onto the base circle. Late one night - with an audience, and yes, there were beers on board - I forgot and left the key on. Yup, tried its best to start. DIdn't run over anybody or my foot, but did spill my beer.jdm1 wrote: ↑21 Feb 2023, 14:31 Before too many people waste time with the previous post, I had a flash of insight. I used to bump start my 65 Amazon on the flat until I discovered a broken main ground cable. That car would pull away in 4th gear in snow!

Just to update all new parts are in, timing belt kit, hoses, plugs, wires etc. etc. New blower motor and resistor, assorted bulbs, switches, fluids and shift cable bushings done. Car is stage 0 at this point. AC seems a bit weak so going to chase that down. I have MCC which relay behind the glovebox is for the AC compressor? They are both green which may or not be correct. Looking for some insight. Thanks.

Mine is blue (MCC, but mine is an automatic)
ipd shows a green one under a new part number; I would imagine the same relay is used elsewhere
Discussed before:

Since it's kind of a pita to get to, I would lean towards a brand name relay - and as usual, avoid anything URO.
Same as the fuel pump ?

Might be a junkyard crawl item, but see "pita", above.

Aside from replacing shifter and cable bushings no new progress. I have just been driving the 850 daily seeing what breaks or not. Yesterday
the fuel line running from the filter up to the engine developed a massive leak. Almost looks like it split. The plastic cover that normally protects the lines under the car was missing when purchased. Probably should have gotten one from the junk yard. My question is are these line(s) available? I have not found a source. I say lines because if I am replacing one I might as well do both. I am used to rubber or steel fuel lines these look like a coated hard plastic. Any information appreciated.
Thanks,
John
