My alternator died last week. I was hoping to save some cash and do it myself. I found another post describing what needs to be removed to get to the alternator, but I just cannot get the power steering pump off. I just want to make sure that I am removing the correct bolts. I am trying to remove the 4 bolts on the right side of the pump (opposite the pulley). Are those the correct bolts to remove? If so, I cannot get the rear top bolt off. It is a very tight spot and I can only get the open end of a wrench on it. Whenever I try to unscrew it, the wrench just pops off since it is slightly at an angle...causing me to strip the bolt a bit. Any tool that I could get or any other ideas how I could get the bolt off?

Wow, thank you very much...so I was removing the wrong bolts...could have figured.
The three bolts are on the pully side.
Remove the belt (14 mm to pull on the tensioner & release belt (tight space)).
Belt removed from pull, can rotate the power steering pully to align with the bolts.
12 mm deep socket to reach them "through the pulley"
Handy to have some mechanics wire to hold the power steering pump up (hang from hood). Provides more space and "no extra hose" to speak of for moving it out of the way. Power steering reservoir along with anti freeze supply tank will get lifted up too.

That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

The 1998 has an extra metal cage around the power steering pump that isn’t well documented.
The 1999 2000 alternator mounts completely different than the -1998
