Help getting VIDA to work again?

I have an old laptop running Windows 7 that I have used VIDA on a few years ago. It worked back then to clear an airbag light.
But trying to get it working now is proving difficult. The laptop runs Windows 7, so I'm not using it for anything but the Volvo and BMW software. I'm not sure if the BMW software works anymore since I can't find my USB cable for it.

Back to the Volvo....
The VIDA software starts up. When I connect the OBD2 cable to the DICE interface, the power and communication lights flash. When I plug the USB cable into the laptop, it the USB Com Status light blinks a few times for a couple seconds and then goes out. When I look in Device Manager in Windows, it sees the DICE Hardware device. If I unplug the USB cable, the DiCE Hardware device goes away.
On VIDA when I try to get it to read the car's info, it fails. Can't communicate (and the USB Com status LED is not lit or flashing at all).

It remembers the XC90 from a few years ago and I can select it, but it doesn't really communicate with it (that I can tell). It says there are some codes, but doesn't give me the option to clear them. It doesn't let me view any stats (I'm trying to clear the TCM counter for after changing the transmission fluid.

I'm not sure what to do.

The laptop is running Windows 7 64-bit. I have IE 9.

I hosed it up now. I uninstalled VIDA and tried reinstalling it.
Now when trying to log into VIDA using admin, it tries but just goes back to the login again. I think this might be something others have had trouble with before. I'll search for fixes for that now.

I changed the date in the patch license file to the year 2099. Ran the filldb.cmd, restarted VIDA and it still won't work. Trying to log in using admin or ADMIN or 1 always gets right back to the login page.

Reinstalled again and it started working.
