2015.5 V60 overheating with AC on

I recently had two coolant hoses replaced due to leaks and now the heat works again, but the vehicle overheats unless the heat is on. Fine in the winter but awful in summer. I'm assured that there are no more bubbles in the system but that seems to be a huge problem in the P3 platform. Does anyone have experience like this?
Mechanic inspected water pump and AC unit and says there's no problems he can see.
