Really enjoyed reading this old thread. Also getting P0305.
Two questions.
1. How do I test the intake manifold gasket using starter fluid? Where do I spray it?
2. Is there a write-up on building a smoke tester?

1. Spray the starter fluid around the intake manifold while the engine is running. Target where the gasket is sandwiched to the cylinder head. If there's a leak, the fluid should get sucked in and noticeably change the way the engine runs. When I had my gasket issue, I kept getting a misfire at cylinder 5. If you have an ODBII reader, you may be able to pinpoint the cylinder and then you can spray there.

2. YouTube is your friend. Do a search there. I found most of the homemade smoke testers a bit questionable. I wonder if this is something that one of the AutoParts stores will rent or let you borrow?

Good luck to you.
