2007 S-60. Starts. runs a minute, chokes down and stops running

Post by RichardCrum »

Car starts, runs a moment, chokes down and stops. These parts have been replaced to try to solve the problem: fuel pump, temperature sensor, replaced 5/16 inlet outlet metal inline, starter, AC compressor, fuel rail sensor, fuel filter. It still doesn't run. Help.

Wow,

You replace that many parts?
Search forum for PEM.

Your 2007 S60 probably has the PEM inside the trunk.

Any codes? Have you checked for vacuum leaks?|

Sorry to hear about your issues. I can assure you that ac compressor and starter were not the problem here for sure. I am worried that you already invested close to 1000 and still don't have the answer. I would advice to get your car to the dealer or other qualified shop to help you with the proper diagnosis. This way you will not invest into more possible parts or tools necessary to fix the issue. After paying for diagnostics(180-250 would be my guess) you will be able to decide if you want them to fix the issue or do it yourself. You can post their recommendations here and we can together think what might be best.
In regards to the above post PEM might be the issue here.
But try look at this video if you want to try one more time

My kid's 2004 V70 in college far away from home had the same symptoms.
Local Volvo mechanics scratched their head over a week.
I shipped a good used PEM to the shop. Problem solved.
The 2004 V70 has metal fuel tank, so the PEM is on top of the fuel tank.

I believe the 2007 S60 has the PEM in the trunk, very very easy to get to. Swapping it is a 5-10 min job.

You can get the used PEM at local junk yard.
Or on ebay for $45.

Please post a follow-up.

Good suggestions above.

Something simple I would try 1st. Unplug your MAF then start the car and see if it will idle longer than currently. If it does, you may need a new MAF. If it doesn't, good advice provided on the PEM.

The 2004 V70 has metal fuel tank, so the PEM is on top of the fuel tank.
Depends on market and VIN. Both metal and plastic fuel tanks are used on P2s
