CEM not sleeping? 2005 XC90

Post by DMW »

Hey all! The Volvo was purchased with 100K for $750. It runs nice after installing new plugs and coils. It does stall from time to time and must be restarted. The reason for the low price, was that of a parasitic draw of 400ma. With the car "asleep", I've found that there is 12V on many of the CEM fuses and under the hood in that fuse box. I pulled the top CEM connectors and found no water damage. After the CEM disconnect, the fuses under the hood showed no voltage, the draw disappeared, but the CEM still showed 12V on some circuits. I'm trying to make a decision whether or not to have the CEM serviced ($599 with XeMODeX Inc US). One would think that the ignition would initiate the 12V distribution... Has anyone seen this one? Thanks! Dean

You may just end up sending your CEM to Xemodex, but you can contact them so they can help you trouble shoot. They have seen pretty much all the scenarios and know the issues way too well.

I suspect the CEM has many 12V circuits active with key out. Current drain is important, not the mere presence of voltage.
