Re: What did you do to your Volvo today?
I assume there's horizontal steel ladder reinforcing at the mortar joints to hold it all together in an earthquake, and it's so wide it has some strength that's greater than a brick wall. The periodic pilasters / columns help too - I'm sure they're specified in structural codes there.

Spent today finishing off testing the Volvo audio head units on my workbench in a hopeless attempt to clear it. Finally got everything sorted, boxed and recorded.
The final unit I was not going to bother checking as it is an SC-810. It only has a cassette player and radio, no CD. The actually have really good sound and can accept an amplifier and CD changer. After cleaning the unit the following are my observations on these older units.
1) They are well built!
2) The cassette changer is a breeze to clean as you just remove the top and it is right there.
3) The main failing as with the SC-900/901 and these is that they have special soldered in light bulbs. Not the easily replaceable ones in the SC-815/6 single CD changer unit. As there was one bulb out, I decided to try to change it on the viewpoint if I screwed it up then no great loss. You have to remove the front pcb which requires removing the front panel, as well as the graphic equalizer slider buttons and the 2 rotary knobs. Then there are 4 metal tabs that hold the board in place that have to be rotated slightly to allow the board to slide over them. You also have to ease the board out as there are 3 multi-legged connectors on the back of the board.
De-soldering the bulb holder was a bit of a faff, but got it out. Problem is removing the old bulb from the holder is nearly impossible, and soldering a new one into the older is equally challenging. Re-soldered the bulb holder back in. It works by using the same bulbs as I use for the other radios, but for some reason it is much duller, maybe 50% of the originals. Not sure if that is down to my work or what. It at least lights up the area well enough if not perfect. I would recommend though, that unless someone knows of a good source for the bulbs, I would live with one out!!
Now I just need to get all these head units up for sale as well as the amps and connecting cables. I did a rough count and it is something like?
1) 3 x SC-901 3-CD changer built in head units (need an amplifier and cable as no internal amp).
2) 1 x SC-900 3-CD changer built in (older brother to the SC-901 but in my opinion with better sound). Again amp and cable needed!
3) 5 or 6 x SC-815/816 single CD changer and cassette. Built in amps but can use an amp and cable. NOTE: SC-815 have only one antenna input. Fine for sedans, but for wagons, you need 2 inputs for the 2 rear built in antennas. Again I feel the older unit has better sound quality.
4) An SC-810 and SC-811 cassette/radio only head units
5) Approximately 6-7 amplifiers and cables 4 x 50W output.
6) Oh, there are a couple or so 6-CD changers and cables as well
2) 2 Volvo and one aftermarket electric antennas. The Volvo ones have been serviced and new masts fitted. The aftermarket unit is new.
It is amazing how quickly this can get out of hand!
This does not include the speakers and my buddy has a whole bunch he wants to dump on me as well!
Does anyone know where to buy the soldered in bulbs and holders?
Neil.

Very rare those turntables!!
Haven't tracked it down. It is on my top 10 list including the plastic grille cover for winters for P80's, as well as the engine undertray like they had in Europe!

Finally made it out to the junkyard - harvested both undercarriage braces. I was kind of surprised that they were still there, as the car has been in the yard for four years. So now I'll have to see how they fit. It looks like I would need some threaded inserts for the front one, but I haven't looked under Sveedy to be sure. Still for $30 for both, I think they will be worth the effort.
Yep. Need inserts.

Can't go too far wrong for that money. Took the bolts too, I presume - everything on the big mounting plate needs longer stuff.

The bolts I pulled are the same as the others I have from other cars in my stash. Not 100% convinced of the 2 different bolt lengths. I'm probably wrong!

Trying to clear room for the much avoided dash repair on the 'R'. Weather is getting near to where it can venture out on unsalted roads.
Today replaced the oil and filter for the 4Runner as well as the air filter and cabin filter. The last 2 were horrid. Car has only done around 20k miles since I bought it! Shows what all the wild fires every summer are doing for us.
Also working on the PV544 'nose' wall art. Discovered what I thought was dirt is actually paint overspray. Having to wet sand and polish to clean it up. Had to by more 3" polishing pads as all mine are in a 'very safe place'.......................!?
Hopefully the R will get moved into the large garage early next week to give room to work on it.

Can't complain about $30 for that! I paid like $70 at LKQ last time... thieves
Still cheap for that brace, but not at a junkyard.
