Parts find for PV544

I saw an ad for a front grill section of a PV544. I thought that although this is one of my great wishes for a car, I am now unlikely to ever get one unless I win a lottery!

Anyway, I thought that maybe I could use this as a piece of wall art for my garage and arranged to go get it. As is often the way, when you buy one part then the owner then remembers a bunch of other stuff he wants to offload for free to get it out of the garage.

So I ended up with the front 'nose' of the PV544, a 4 speed transmission and a 544 script badge. Oh, and a random 164E hubcap less the plastic outer ring.

Looking at the 544 'nose' I am not sure that due to it being a lot thicker and heavier than I expected I will be able to mount it on the wall easily. My wife suggested cutting it down, but I would feel so bad that a relatively rust free part was damaged.

Not sure what to do with this now so it will have to find a spot in the garage until I can decide!

The condition of the part really makes me uncomfortable cutting this down. As you can maybe see it is in excellent condiiton.

Well finally got the time to clean up the 544 'nose'. Like all jobs, this took way longer than I planned as there was a film of an oily type paint overspray all over the parts including the chrome. This required wet sanding to remove, and then a buff and polish to improve the finish.

I have now found a home in my garage for it and it is now on display!
