The battery died on my v70 (NOT because of the lights) and after replacing the battery the courtesy lights have a mind of their own.
They stay on while driving (which in all my searching here I haven't seen mentioned). They start to dim/go out then come back on, over and over again. Other times they will just stay on. About half the time when stopped and the car is turned off they will go out after a few minutes. Other times with the car off they will stay on similar to other folks' issues.
I still had the old battery in it and recharged it the first time after it died and the battery died again during the day while parked. Since I just bought the car I figured the battery was shot and obviously not holding a charge and maybe was a low voltage issue. Replaced the battery with a new one and the same thing is happening.
Then I saw the post here about disconnect battery, let capacitors etc. drain out for 10-20 minutes, connect Positive cable, Key to Position 2, connect Negative cable. No luck
Tried Lock/Unlock car three times with the physical Key (I don't have a key fob). No luck.
I did not have this issue (to my knowledge; only had this car 6 days) before the battery died overnight.
Resorted to pulling the fuse for now.
Thoughts? Thanks
Jarrod

You have a break in wiring in one of the doors thst is triggering the interior lights, Most likely.

I think this problem can also be due to a flaky switch in one of the door lock/latch assembly. Do you see any message about a door being open or tailgate open? One of the switches tells if the door is open/closed and if flaky it will say the door is open when it's not expected to be open when the car is moving. A tailgate open message will likely be due to a broken wire in the left hinge area of the tailgate.
