OK to tint laminated windows?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

OK to tint laminated windows?

Post by vegasjetskier »

Hello. I have laminated windows (part of the security system) on my 2001 S80 T6. I have asked Volvo if it's OK to tint them, but they won't tell me either way; they just say that any work not done by Volvo is not authorized. :x Does anyone know if tinting the windows will damage them? All the tint film that I can find says not to apply it to laminated windows. It's pretty hot where I live so I'd like to keep down the solar gain on my car if I can. Thanks in advance for any help.

Probably the reason the window tint package states that you don't use it on laminated glass is because windshields are usually the laminated glass found in most vehicles.

No problem in tinting any window except for the front windshield.

:? Don't know where you live, but here in southern Az it gets good and hot this time of year....By all means tint your windows., makes quite a difference in temperature...Also saves the leather interior...I would not have a vehicle w/o tinted windows....Get the darkest allowed by your state..
Cost can vary, depends where its done at.....There are a lot of individuals that do this around $100 dollar cost....Its best to find one thats recommended by others.....Regular tinting businesses will cost you more.

Good luck....
