XC70 rear muffler option?

Post by BlackBart »

I assume this subject has been hashed out over and over, I didn't find it in a brief search.

I was underneath dealing with something else and took note of the massive rear muffler on an XC wagon. Has anyone replaced this with a basic Borla / Thrush / Wagner / Flowmaster / Magnaflow muffler can and rigged up the curves to match the input and tailpipe pieces?

It's really big. What does it weigh? I assume it's thoroughly engineered for the perfect flow and backpressure and noise for a new Volvo buyer.

It's not failing, I'm just curious.
