Thinking about getting an Amazon
I’m feeling the itch coming on, but there is absolutely nothing close to Virginia that isn’t already restored. I would consider something like the one in that post I made in the Craigslist thread. Unfortunately, it’s in San Francisco. If you all come across something that could be a driving restoration near VA, let me know. I’m figuring it’s about time I learn to weld.

Unfortunately we are too far away, as there are currently 3 or 4 Amazons for sale and even a reasonable wagon which allegedly runs and drives. All for about $4500 US! If I felt the urge to work on an amazon again I would be out there getting that one. There is also a 123 GT that is in bit and needs paint and re-assembling for about $3750 US.

Thanks. I actually bought foggydogg’s Amazon. I drove up and towed it back this past Saturday. I’ll start a thread on it soon. I just received my first VP order, so I’m going to start to do more than just tinkering.scot850 wrote: ↑20 Jun 2023, 19:11 Unfortunately we are too far away, as there are currently 3 or 4 Amazons for sale and even a reasonable wagon which allegedly runs and drives. I wish you luck on your project!
I enjoyed 2 of my 3 Amazons (3rd one was a wagon in mid-restoration when we decided to move to Canada). Mostly reliable even one that had been run hard for 220,000 miles. They are what set me down the Volvo route for many of our cars for the last 45+ years.
Hardest part of working on an Amazon was getting the rear drums off to service the brakes. You need a really stout puller for that. I used to pull the rear wheels, put the car up on jack stands at the rear and then put the puller on one side. You hit it with a large hammer to turn the threads on the puller and then left it with a pile of rags under it. Go for a cup of tea and come back out to find the drum on the ground or loosened.

I've been thinking of getting an Amazon (wagon) since the late 80s. Wasn't a priority, and now I think that boat has passed my checkbook by.
Congrats, and thanks to foggydog for passing it on.
