P80 door lock wafers
Anyone happen to know the dimensions of the thermistor wafers in the door locks? I'd like to get them made before I start tearing apart the locks. My car is a 98 S70 but I think all P80's are the same. Thanks.

You can get them made? Do you not have to also know the resistance they operate at to make sure they can carry the load without tripping?
If you just need the dimensions, I can pull the new ones I have from Alibaba on the weekend and measure them for you.

Robert diy just said he uses cooper. I had never heard of what the ohms were. I wouldn't want you to have to tear apart yours. Do you have a part for the motor you bought? That would be easier ten tearing apart

Yes, they supply the end part of the motor with the bearing and the wafer in it.
Copper is OK, and I have done it using copper solid wire, but the issue we have up here doing that is if you get frost or the motor fails it takes out the system rather than just shut down. Headlight washer motors are worse as they can take out your main washers as well. I recommend putting in an appropriate in-line fuse lower than the system one so if something fails it does not damage the rest of the system or take the main fuse out.
I thought we talked on this subject before and I linked the motor parts on that thread maybe a year ago? I'll see if I can find it again or a link to the site on Alibaba.
This is the thread with the links on it. Worth checking as there are various suppliers and prices regularly change!

I should add, that on the 2nd page, there is a picture of the motor end sections I bought.
Hope this helps!

I remember us talking. When it gets cooler the locks work ok & I get lazy. With it heating up here(Oregon) they get more annoying & I want to fix them. Thanks for the motor info,

BTW, just as a follow up, the wafers are .045" x .300" x .350". Could not read the ohms as it was not within either of my meters range. Might help someone.

The brushes were not worn much on my motors just as pictured in the link if you compare old to new

Then we might as well go back around why using the copper is not a good idea as it removes the safety overload of the circuit.

+1 on the copper washer, that's been my solution for about 8 years now. Clean the motor internal gently while you are in there. Good luck!
