What is this hose for? Does anyone know a part number?

It’s a vacuum hose for the heated air motor on the air cleaner

I thought turbos didn't get that? I switched to a turbo lower box, to get rid of mine. Mine is a 96, Though.

Turbos don't have them. There is a small hose that runs to the PTC nipple area on some turbos and to the top of the snorkel on the older engines if I recall correctly.

Mine has it, and it has a turbo. Maybe the turbo was added later, because I don't have a turbo gauge on the dash or an air filter box marked turbo.

Other vacuum operated stuff nearby…

Hot air motor noted above
supplemental air system solenoid, mounted high behind radiator
Cruise control?
EGR system, unlikely in a 1997

The GLT is a low pressure turbo.... no boost gauge or "Turbo" script on the airbox. My 99 S70 GLT doesn't have those things either.

I think my '97 855 GLT also had a hard white hose like this, with a crumbly rubber elbow, and it was part of the SAS system, connected to the solenoid valve on top of the radiator as abscate mentions above. If you're keeping it, I would recommend using a piece of silicone hose to replace the rubber elbow because the rubber elbows don't seem to have a long lifetime -- maybe 2-5 years at best and possibly less depending on which elbow location. The silicone hose is flexible enough to make a bend similar to what's molded into the elbow.

How can I use a silicone hose to replace the rubber connector? One side of the rubber connector is wide, where the other side is narrow?

I had that concern too -- flexible thick wall silicone tubing worked. You can get a tight seal on the narrow end and still be able to stretch the tube over the larger fitting on the other side.
