Question for the pros...
- The 2007 S60 2.5T with 115K miles is about 600 miles away (kid in college).
- I have the "projector style" HL assembly (per @jimmy57's post above).
- If I decide to switch to Halogen type:
1. What is the Volvo PN for the Halogen-type HL Assembly?
2. Is Halogen brighter than Bi-Xenon?
3. Will I get a "Light Failure Message" on the DIM screen?

My other go to place with Lifetime Guarantee. Both DEPO & TYC are common aftermarket but not as good as Volvo OE.

So for the 2007 S60 with Bi-Xenon HL, even after I spent hours polishing the lens, the output at night is about 50-60% of what a normal
car should be. My theory is that, even from factory, the 2007 S60 Bi-Xenon light output (mine uses D1S bulb) is below normal.
Then I found out if you flip to "High Beam" you don't blind the car in front (or opposite traffic at all).
I was doing this test at night (with "High Beam" on) and with a friend in the car in front, I did not blind him at all.
So, for my particular 2007 S60, if the output is below normal at night, I use "High Beam", which turns out to be the equivalent of Low Beam in many other vehicles on the road.

Adjust the aim up to see if that helps as you did have the headlights out of the vehicle, and polishing/working the lenses may have altered the aim. Hope it helps

I have a 2006 V70 with factory Bi-Xenon HID. It uses a D2R bulb instead of D1S. The HID design for 2007 S60 must be different than 2001-2006 as the 01 - 06 used a D2R bulb. Volvo factory HID systems were required to incorporate autoleveling. HID autoleveling on P2 cars uses angle sensor(s) in the rear suspension and a motor in each headlight capsule that sets the HID beam angle. The HID headlight capsules have a manual vertical beam adjustment but it only makes a small adjustment in beam angle compared to the leveling motor. Perhaps the self leveling system isnt working in your S60. The result could be that the self leveling motor defaults to the lowest beam angle. Do you have access to Vida ? It should have some diagnostic information on the self leveling system.
When the vertical beam angle of P2 factory HIDs is adjusted properly, the high beam pattern has long reach but a disconcerting sharp vertical cutoff. Probably Halogen headlight capsules could be substituted in your car, not sure if a fault will be displayed in the DIM. Halogen headlights may consume more power than HID, especially if the Halogen high beam and low beam are both on. There might be some wire gauge differences in the wire harnesses.
2001-2004 P2 headlights used glass lenses. Those lenses arent degraded by sunlight, but the internal reflectors have the same problem as glass P80 headlights - the reflector silvering evaporates and the headlights become dimmer. 2005+ P2 headlights use plastic lenses so those headlights can have lens degradation and reflector degradation. A set of aftermarket halogen headlights might be the easiest solution.
