2002 V70 (Brake bulb burning out quick)

Post by Mr. Detail »

Does anyone have a clue as to why my brake light bulb (21W) keeps burning out after only 2 weeks with a brand new bulb?
I have already replaced the whole upper light unit because the black plastic jigsaw where the bulb inserts was broken.
Pain in the ass these brake lamps. I have people telling me at red lights my brake light is out. Nice of them but I see the warning light every time I step on the brake.

Are you using cheap bulbs?
Over voltage will cause also short bulb life.
Does the brake light ever go out?

No, I am not using cheap bulbs. (HELLA)
Does the brake light ever go out? (Do you mean the light on the message board on the instrument panel?)
