2002 c70 vvt solenoid compatibility

Post by Flystagg »

It looks like at 204k miles my VVT solenoid is dead ohm checks bad and is throwing ecm-644 code

While shopping for a new one it looks like volvo only makes a newer version of this part with different connector which I'm sure many of you have delt with

But while browsing fcp euro it appears the oem volvo s40 vvt solenoid is still available with what appears to be the same old style connector my car has. Made in Japan by asin warner

And it is half the price.....

I feel like I really want to try it unless someone has evidence why the v40 4cyl white block solenoid wouldn't work. They use the same gasket

Also does anyone know the difference between intake and exhaust solenoids. I have found good deals. Oem new version intake solenoids but I need exhaust side. They look identical...

If there is compatability it will show in the fitment in the online Volvo parts webstore. Put your VIN in and try it

If you pull a solenoid ftom the same engine type I would think it would work.

Exhaust and intake are different, though

Thanks for the info on the intake solenoid

It looks like the s40 uses a different style vvt cam sprocket/ hub. So even though the s40 solenoid would mount to my engine it probably needs different oil pressure os something

Has anyone used the febi brand vvt solenoid https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 29#fitment
