Rust...in cylinders.

I was running 5w30 oil before, but I plan to use 10w40. Thoughts on this?

10w40 is no problem in warmer weather. Check your manual, this came from my 08 S60 2.5T. 10w on cold start should be fine if above freezing.

Absolutely no problem starting in the morning after ~5-10F (-15..10C) nights. Oil's pour point was -49F/-45C. Conventional oil may struggle, but I would walk away from conventional oil in any turbo engine.

Definitely synthetic. I’d give an extra minute or two to let the oil warm up though if it was below freezing.

I've torqued down the cam cover. Hope this sealant doesn't plug a oil passage.

I am sure I put down a small amount...yet it spit out.

That's why you supposed to use anaerobic sealant.

It's what I was given at a auto parts shop. I fully thought it was the correct thing.

As long as it's an anaerobic gasket maker you shouldn't have any problem with excess squished to the oil channels.

If that blue stuff sets hard it’s the wrong stuff. Get it off, and use Permatex 51813 or the Volvo stuff
