Is this part of the accelerator pedal?

If not, what is it?

There is a picture here: viewtopic.php?t=67723 that shows that leaf spring in place.
1997 855 GLT (Light Pressure Turbo) still going strong. Previous: 1986 240 GL rusted out in '06, 1985 Saab 900T rusted out in '95, 1975 Saab 99 rusted out in '95, 1973 Saab 99 rusted out in '94

Thank you, any tips on how to install it? I've never dealt with something like this before.

Does the spring attach to anything? I'm stumped.

Apologies... I can't remember how it went together... it was about 8 years ago that I was working in that area to replace the heater core and plumbing. I'm not sure but it could be that Robert DIY has a video on youtube that shows the disassembly/reassembly of the metal clip. I know I watched his videos a few times to train myself up before I started working on the job.
