Tempting. 35k for a 200 mile range Volvo EV

For SWMBO driving 3 miles a day to work, then 6 times a year into NYC at 60 miles urban, it’s perfect

Can I sell 4 P80s to raise the 35k in cash? Maybe if I customize them in gold-pressed latinum ./

95%+ of my trips are 12 miles or less. Maybe 98%.

I think I'm the same. Except for big trips, which for us are 500 to 900 mi one-way trips through rural areas with no charging infrastructure. We still need Betty the Volvo. Plus weekend trips in the mountains.

Some additional info on the EX30 -

With this car Volvo is aiming at affordability and volume.
It seems it's made on an existing Geely platform, therefore way less development cost.
It is produced in China, so it comes with a 27.5% tariff in the US.
Economies of scale with Geely will make it more affordable, while more profitable for Volvo.

Offroad and EVs don't mix as well as every other activity. Running out of juice on a 4WD trail is a situation I hope to never find myself in.

You have to look at the frequency of your long trip need and figure out the economics of renting vs opening.

They've gotten better and better at charging, EVs in general. EX30 goes from 10 to 80% charge in 26.5 minutes. But whatever the case, my time isn't so valuable that taking a half-hour break every 250 miles is a bad thing.
Charge your EX30 from 10 to 80 per cent in 26.5 minutes at fast public charging stations. A Volvo Cars wallbox makes rapid charging at home faster, too. Compared to a regular household socket, it can charge your EX30 up to five times faster. And you can start and stop charging, schedule charging and monitor progress on the wallbox and your smartphone.

Scheduling charging is excellent because you can schedule for the wee hours, when electrons are cheapest.

I feel that renting is something that's generally forgotten when people choose a car to buy. "It has to do everything on my list," etc., which usually leads to a large SUV or fullsize pickup.

“I can’t put plywood in my EV “says the pink handed , small membered F650 owner who hasn’t cut lumber in 20 years

My Harbor freight China trailer is awesome for all that crap , easier to load, costs $20 a year to run, and can be loaned to friends for karma

But..but...you need a big big truck to pull a trailer! Something with 10,000+ lbs towing! Look at all the guys around here pulling rubber fishing rafts with big big trucks.
