04 XC70 Engine Cuts out at Speed

Hey all. Looking for some insight. I had my fuel pump replaced a year ago and since then my otherwise trusty XC70 will cut out at highway speeds with the fuel tank always at 1/4-1/2 full. Once I pull over it primes and starts up just fine.

The dealer was less than helpful suggesting I bring it in so they can charge me 8+ hours to "drop the tank"

I had thought the siphon was dangling loose or the fuel gauge was misaligned but neither seems to be the issue. Does the wiring on the level in the attached photo look appropriate? It doesn't match what I'm seeing in videos whatsoever. Any other help much appreciated!

This sounds to me like a fuel pump or fuel filter problem. Both should be evident with low fuel pressure at highway speeds. Try to add a fuel pressure gauge from the bleed valve at the end of the fuel header on top of the engine. Run the gauge line and gauge to be visible while driving. Then hit the road.

They may have kinked the crossover pipe that feeds the two saddle tanks. It’s a common error.

Yeah, hose kink possible. Likely to give problem at high flow and low tank level.
