2004 S60R Hose ID Help

Post by Starbuck »

Hello Gents and Ladies!

I have been trying to ID this wee hose that comes off the thermostat housing nipple. It's cracked af and pending explosion at the most inconvenient time.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

It’s part of the PCV system. Starting in 1999, Volvo used hot coolant (!) to warm the PCV system to prevent it from slugging up.

You can replace that hose with good quality coolant hose, but I don’t think there is a Volvo part number for it

You have to get rid of that crappy hose clamp , too, or we won’t respect you here.

Thank you. I'll look around for a silicone hose.

What kind of clamps do I need to earn respect? You're my only friends so I can't alienate you.

It is strange that I can't find that part number. Volvo used to have part numbers for hoses of different types but sell it by the foot or meter. For a particular application it may suggest a quantity required of that pipe and it it in stock in bulk. Guess things have changed!!

The coolant line there is only included on the PCV hose assembly part number. Can't remember what it is off the top of my head!

Thanks Gents. So far my plan is to buy a 3/8 reinforced silicone hose and secure it with t-clamps.

Pretty sure this is the part of the part you are talking about. May want to do a glove test to determine if PCV is ok.

Unbolt and move the P.S. pump out of the way and make your life 10x easier for this hose replacement. Oetiker clamps are the ones preferred by abscate's Creator.
