Ok this is a tough one to diagnose and fix
2017 Volvo XC90 T8 inscription
Car hesitates on accelerating and acts as if it’s not getting good TPC or acceleration signal from computer.
Dealer said no fault codes due to outdated modem and charged 2000.00 dollars to replace with 5G modem.
Still no codes.. they spoke to Volvo Corp and Volvo “ dialed in”. No codes Volvo said it’s a pre-heater or similar, dealer disagreed and said it was rear differential.
No noise, no leaks observed on rear differential.
Wants 8000.00 to replace rear differential.
I said I want the old differential to diagnose problem and now they claim it’s a 500.00 core charge on differential.
Anyone know if that’s accurate? Anyone know if this is even possible problem?
Sounds off to me.

This is the wrong forum for this.
However, with the chunk of change invested i would recommend picking up a code scanner that works with volvo. Vida is ideal but you can get away with things like a foxwell nt510 elite with the volvo liscense.
Not sure what you mean by outdated modem? I dont know what a 5G modem has to do with these cars especially for fault codes? If this is remote access to the car via "dialed in" then i dont know what more they pull that the dealership cannot pull.
It sounds like they are taking you out to lunch. You are only charged a core if they provide you the new part. If they didnt change it then its still on your car.
I do not know much if anything about the 2017 platform. However, are you running premium gas?
Can you define TPC?
I think you need to monitor signals with a code scanner to get a better idea.
Service history is a start as well. When were all fluids (diff, transfer case or pump, transmission fluid) last changed? When did the issue start.
