I guess I’m going to call him “Leo”
Thanks to foggydogg (JC) I’m the proud owner of a 1962, with some 1967 mixed in, split the difference -> 1964.5 4dr 122s Amazon.
. I went by his place in DE a few weeks ago, while I happened to be working in the area, and checked it out. It has a lot of character and just a little surface rust. I dollied it back to VA this past Saturday w/o issue. None of my neighborhood kids were out and about when I got back, so I just used the starter w/ the coil disconnected to get it in the garage. Once in the garage, I hooked up the coil and it started right up. I guess I primed the fuel system. The clutch was down due to a crusty slave cylinder and the carb jet tubes were stuck so I couldn’t adjust the carbs. Well actually I did try, but while unsticking the jets, the fuel lines to them broke. They were brittle. New ones are coming from VP on Friday. I did receive some parts yesterday and got the clutch working. Once I get the carbs adjusted, I’m going to take it around the block. I can legally do that b/c I registered it w/ some NOS Virginia vintage plates I got of eBay. I did make one addition to the grill… I really like the look of the ‘62 and older grills and I overpaid for the very hard to find grill bars. They came today, I cleaned them up and installed them. Maybe I’ll get lucky and come across the inner grill trim surround someday. I’m going to be accessing and repairing things that need it and I will be fixing the body, blocking it and painting the car. It’s going to be all black, but I may change my mind and do a white top later. All the chrome trim will be added back to the car once I buy it. The interior is still in decent condition and I may just clean it up more and re dye it red to give it extra life. Well, that’s it for now. Thank you JC (foggydogg) for offering up your Amazon and helping me get it on its way to VA! I know the pic’s aren’t going to be oriented right, but oh well. Lol

Looks like a great place to start from. No visible rust in the pictures which is amazing!
Interior also looks really good.
Both my grandfather and his son (my uncle) had early 1960's P120's. Both had California white (I think that was what is was called which is a creamy white) up to the roof and the roof was black. Both my 4 door and 2 door were California white. A 65 122S and a 67 123GT.

It is amazing about the lack of rust. The previous owner to JC, Leo Rizzo fixed and/or preemptively prevented it. The only rust I could locate is on the inside of the doors at the bottom by the water passage. Along that seam on the inside there is some surface rust. That is easy to fix and I’ll do that before I paint it.scot850 wrote: ↑22 Jun 2023, 19:24 Looks like a great place to start from. No visible rust in the pictures which is amazing!

So besides the grill of the era, the trunk handle is unique and out of production. I am going to get this one re-chromed. I need to find someone hopefully local willing to do a one off job. Also, it came with an owners manual and several work shop manuals. All of which are hard to find. My jaw dropped when I saw them. I love having those kinds of things.

I think you have to be careful with the rear trunk handle/lock mechanism. It is the early one which I recognize but have no experience of. I seem to recall they are hard to do because they were made of mazak which tends to get holes in and is hard to clean to get new chrome on. There are new process these days like spray chrome which may be a work around if necessary.
The books I recognize 2 of them. I also have what I think is either an early Haynes and Autobooks repair manuals as well as the owners handbook. Probably have more stuff around that I may have to look for that I should really look to pass on to others.
I look forward to your updates and seeing pictures of it when finished.

Can't now recall if the propshaft has a center bearing or slider with what we called Hardy Spicer joints either end. I think there is a rubber boot around center support bearing. Been a long time....!

I got it up on jack stands and ran it Monday evening. No sounds. Lol. I left it on jack stands and got under it last night and inspected everything closely. I think I found the root cause. A bolt head was rubbing on the drive shaft at the end of the first tunnel, before the center support bearing (which looks rather new). The metal of the tunnel was bent up towards the drive shaft and the bolt was making slight contact leaving a witness mark all the way around the shaft. Hence the sound I was hearing, which after thinking about it, is better described as the sound a skateboard makes when it’s rolling over concrete. I’ll get it out of the garage this weekend to verify if bending that tunnel edge away from the shaft cures it. Otherwise I’ll find a shallower bolt for the emergency brake mount. I’ve got more parts coming tomorrow. I’m mainly interested in the float needles. The carbs have been wanting to flood since setting the floats at the proper height.
