Hello,
I've recently bought my first volvo with some friends, so I'm kind of new to volvo's. Also this is my first forum so apologies in advance for some incorrect terminology.
A couple of months ago i've bought a 1995 Volvo 850 GLT with the four gear automatic. After a while we had multiple problems with the engine. Broken head gasket, overheating problems.
We first tryed replacing the head gasket but this resulted in no changes. Still having a milkshake engine oil and drinking gallons of coolant on every minor drive. Also still getting very hot on small drives.
After contemplating for a while, we think it's a warped head or a crack somewere in the engine.
So we decited on swapping the engine.
After a long wile searching we couldn't find the exact replacement engine (B5264S, B5264FS or B5264F), or a compatible engine that can run on the (Bosch LH-3.2/EZ) ECU and engine loom system.
Also after reading multiple forums i know that there are multiple possibilities for engine swaps on the 850 platform.
My question is what the possibilities are for a mostly bolt in engine swap. Resulting in minor ECU remapping and engine loom fabrication.
Also preferably on a some what tight budget.
1995 volvo 850 GLT auto engine swap candidates.

Use any B5254S(FS) engine with cap & rotor and swap manifolds and sensors from original engine.
All engines are the same except engine managements.
'99 & '00 have coil packs instead of cap & rotor...so they need to be customised.
