Problem with New and old etm replacement ..

Post by adblock »

Hello to all the forum, hello Matthew if you're passing by! ,

I recently bought my first Volvo a Volvo C70 XC AWD 2,4T ocean race of 2001 with 310000 km

I bought it not running because of the Magneti Marelli throttle body that choked the car and stopped it at low rpm.
So I ordered the right remanufactured throttle body ( see photo )

Once everything is plugged in and installed, I start the engine, and it turns on and off immediately afterwards.
Luckily I have a fairly recent obd Autel mk808 case which told me that there was no signal coming from the box ... I check by looking into the case and indeed it does not move during a startup, I missed a step or a configuration?

So I put the old throttle back on and now I can see the signal, with movement on the throttle, but the sensor is acting up ...

I deleted the error code several times, removed the battery for 30 minutes with my foot on the brake and even did a Factory reset and a car reset. Nothing helped ... (it just fixed my sunroof that wouldn't open aha)

The Etm has to be reloaded using vida if its new. You have to check if its communicating, not sure about autel but in vida you can do the test. Vdash can be used to clone old etm but it cost 46eur, ask dealer how much is the software upgrade it may cost less than vdash

1a5d means no power in etm. If its only on new unit then It may be faulty. Did you get the Etm for turbo engine?

Looking at the description the new one is for a P80 chassis car up to 2000, and the C70 that runs to 2002, there were changes in the 03-04 last of the P80 C70's.

Your car as an XC70 from 2001 is a P2 chassis. I don't believe the unit you bought is the correct one. If you connect the ETM and switch on the ignition, do you hear a hum from the ETM which signals it is finding it's start position? If you are not, it is either the wrong one, or it is bad. ele288 also made the point that is the ETM you bought for a turbo or non-turbo car?

here's what the software tells me once the new etm is installed, I've been able to contact different volvo garages who tell me they can do it for around 180 euros but that there's a 50/50 chance that it won't work... they don't know much about the first models either...

Can anyone give me a reliable procedure to help them with my problem?

when I reassemble the old one, it tells me: signal missing, it has been tampered with by several people, a sensor change has already been made

Thanks you so mutch for ur participation i appreciate !
