Well, it’s about 80% back together. 2 pre-run head bolt torques and initial valve adjustment done. I’ll finish putting it together tomorrow and cross my fingers, get it running nice and smooth.

1st heat cycle to torque the head bolts to 90nm. Carbs are just baselined, not adjusted.

I drove it around for a while. I probably put 10 miles on it a little while ago. It did fine, but I think my pickup tube in the gas tank is gone. Under 1/2 a tank, no gas. I guess if it can’t be resolved from the outside, I’ll have to get a new tank. 5 gallons until fill up will get me around town a little.

I think the springs are shot, but the steering is still tight. I’ll shake it down some more to prioritize the repairs. Anyway, it was a blast to get it out of the garage and on the road. I took a video, but it’s too much to post, so I’ll post some screen shots from it.

I’ve driven it the last three evenings in a row and he’s waking up. It seems to run better everyday. I just put a surprise I’ve had for it on. When I drill a hole, it will be a semi cold air intake.

Well, I went ahead and cut out a hole for the intake hose and used a filler neck grommet I purchased for the gas tank. It worked perfect for this hack. I’ve added another to my current VP cart.

Yes, it’s from a 140 series. I found it in a junk yard a month ago and saw gold.
