Knipex makes a nice oetiker tool, but it’s from Germany, so it’s

Excellent and expensive.

That being said my cost per use is down to about a dime

I’ve gone a bit bigger on my recommendations for radiator oetikers. I order from Belmetrics in qty 25 which gives near best pricing. I’ll document here

You thanked the wrong person lol. I was actually the one that posted the link to BelMetric.

Thanks. Looks like Knipex 10 99 I220 have both front and side clamps. KCTool, my supplier for European tools, has the 10 99 I220 for $32 (as does Amazon). Knipex 10 98 I220 has only front clamps. Time to upgrade my Lisle with only front clamps.

I was reading through here, and clicked the links, and....hang on... what is this I’ve had in my drawer forever? Obviously a hand-me-down, not something I bought. I always thought it was a wire cutter for livestock fences. Is it that or an oetiker pliers?
(also note someone tried too hard to cut something and split a blade)

Thanks for that. I'm seeing references to horseshoe / blacksmith / farrier use.

Check your clamps. If they don't say Oetiker, Norma, or ABA, replace them. Even if they look perfect.

My lower radiator hose clamp snapped in half when tightening it today. It's a no-name generic installed by some previous owner. It looked great and I had no intention of replacing it, but now I know better. I'll be replacing all four radiator hose clamps (on both ends of the hoses) since they all appear generic or corroded.

I keep the broken ones, just like that, in my big bag of toy store hose clamps, to remind me to consider where I am using that cheap clamp. I keep good Volvo screw clamps in the travel tool kit ( any car that leaves on an overnight distance) but any real work gets an Oetiker from Dr Hans
