XC70 - Front headlights swap

Hi everybody!

My front lens on the right is showing age and has gone all blurry. I can try to polish it and hope for the best, however, I was wondering if the v70 (2001) lenses would fit (they are glass)

The glass headlights pre '05 will not fit. I've had good results making plastic headlights look new by wet sanding with 800-1000-1500-2000 grit sandpaper in that order followed by power polishing with a cut and polish like Meguiars or 3M.

Noted, thanks! I will try to polish them as you suggest, do I need to put any kind of film or clear coat over the lens after? I am wondering how long will the polish last.

I also have a faulty body position sensor, so the headlights droop to the lowest position. So at the moment the motors in the headlight assembly are unplugged and are manually set up so they dont move. However this throws up the "headlight failure" message. I know where the sensor is located and it seems like an easy replacement, however I read up somewhere here that it needs programming, any pointers on that? Also I am struggling to find the actual part number, there are two types and I am not sure which one is for the XC70 P2.

UV-resistant coat is pretty much must or it won't survive even a few weeks. Some kits come with such coat, like Sylvania headliht restoration kit.

Still, it's a temporary measure. I had to do it roughly once a year. Wrapped in polyurethane film a few years back, it's not perfect and still yellows, but at least it ages better than just polished lens.
