I scrubbed the center console while it was out, it was nasty.
I found a lot of change under the seat and console, so the car only cost me $1597.50!

Those small bulbs like the auto-shifter position light are a real pain to repair as they were originally 'welded' by their leads to the pins. Makes it hard to remove and solder a replacement without melting the casing. Looks like you did a much nicer job than I did!

Thanks, a nice pair of flush cutters makes removal easier (and they are super handy for lots of things)
I do fine soldering work fairly often, so this wasn't a huge deal. Just make sure the iron is nice and hot, so you don't have to spend much time on the pin.

I'm trying to track down the cause of the cruise not working on this thing.

I replaced the brake light switch ($65 official Volvo!!) to no avail.
Turns out it's fairly simple to disassemble the switch and clean the two identical sets of contacts.

The vacuum pump and everything works fine, so I guess I'll check this relay thing under the hood next.

The other day the thing stuck in first gear - turns out the TPS failed. Always something.

I'm no electronics expert, but could the TPS not affect the cruise control?

When you say the cruise vacuum pump works fine, have you physically checked it? If I recall they mount under the battery tray. I had one where the pump had a hole in the casing due to leaked battery acid, and another with a cracked casing.

TPS is fixed with a new unit, seems to work / shift fine now.
The cruise has never worked. I can make the vacuum pump pull the pedal with some jumpers. The switches on the stalk seem to test fine. Repaired the ABS unit. New brake switch..
I found a site that goes through some troubleshooting steps, but all the pics are missing.
Not sure how to test the relay unit (Hella 1378076)
I'll keep poking around!

Current goings on:
Front rotors installed.

Rear bumper cover had come loose in the past, and the exhaust melted some parts, causing alignment issues. Got that squared away and reinstalled.

Time for the front to go down. New spring versus old.

Wow, you have been really busy knocking the challenges out. Are those aftermarket lowering springs?

They are, the previous owner had bought a bunch of parts for it, including the springs.
It's been fun to work on!
