One of the first things I did when I bought the car was to have 4 new tyres fitted. I ordered 4x 205/50R16 tyres from National Tyres and they were fitted the very day the UK went into Covid lockdown. Once fitted the car was taken a short drive and then tucked away in the garage as we were not allowed to go out, I did notice on the drive that the balance was not correct but with everywhere closed there was nothing I could do. A few weeks later when in the garage tinkering I noticed the front nearside and rear offside tyres were 205/55R16 and the other two were the correct size. I contacted National tyres and they ordered in another two tyres the correct size. When I went to have them fitted I told them that I thought the balance was out and after they fitted the correct size tyres they re-balanced the wheels saying they were indeed out, however there has always been a slight vibration starting at around 65mph.

3 years on and coming back from Dumfries at the weekend and at motorway speeds I decided I had enough and took the car into RD Tyre Service to have them re-balanced, Gerry was a pleasure to deal with, he was careful not to mark the wheels and torqued them to the correct 110Nm. His findings were O/S front 10 grams out, N/S front 15 grams out, O/S rear 30 grams out, N/S rear was fine.

Took the car a blast up the motorway and it's as smooth as butter.

It is great when you find a smaller supplier that actually cares and takes pride in their work. Balance being out by that much would say either poor fitter or machine out of calibration.

In North America, Volvo moved the P80's on 16" rims from 50 to 55 series sidewalls due to complaints in sidewalls splitting when hitting pot holes.

Glad it now runs as it should.

They are now 3½ years old and the only non Volvo part on my car. When I purchased the 850 the original factory discs were still on the car, these discs (rotors) were in a box in the boot (trunk), the previous owner never got round to having them fitted. Because they were non Volvo I was going to sell them but decided to give them a try and I'm glad I did, if I had fitted Volvo discs they would be rusty by now. Some aftermarket parts are better than others

Any chance they are coated Zimmermans? Even here with the noxious de-icer they use on the roads all winter they take a long time the corrode.

Hi,

You mean that there is no way to look up the part number?
How would a garage go about getting this identification, any ideas?
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.

Replaced the brakes hoses front, and flush the hole brakes lines. But... there is a but, if i could catch the one at Volvo who has designed the rear brakes lines, i would be happy to share with my node theory.

I had to move the fuel tank a little bit to replace the main big hose on the top. It was a mess to hang the FT at its place a first time.
I had to move the fuel tank a little bit to install new ABS rear sensors wires. It was a mess to hang the FT at its place a second time.
I'm not gonna move the fuel tank to catch and unscrew the hose connectors for the rear brakes lines. It would be a mess to hang the FT at its place a third time.

I'm going to use the gas burner for madam's burned creams to unjam all those hose connection heads, taking care not to look the tank straight in the eye...

Aaaaaah MVS : kiss kiss !
