I just got my perforated leather steering wheel cover in from the UK. Very nice quality. I haven’t stitched up a cover since the late 70’s. 😂

Did you notice that little button on the brake pedal is lit ? I never did try to figure out what Leo was up to there.

It isn't a form of cruise control?

Yes, it actually operates the brake lights. It’s more reliable than the pressure switch attached to the brake line manifold mounted to the firewall. There is also a small LED bulb hanging behind (under) the dash that lights with the brake lights. I assume that was mounted somewhere at some point to give him feedback that the brake light circuit is working. Lots of Easter eggs in the car.. 😂

I was supposed to be out of town on business all week, but that changed, so I’m getting a head start on the driveline repairs. I took the drive shaft out and replaced the center bearing and associated stuff. The U joints are good, so that is set to the side. I took the transmission out a little while ago and discovered the sources of some of the noises I’ve been hearing. A banging while releasing the clutch to take off in 1st = broken transmission mount. A low grumble when I let off the gas and coast in 4th= toasty transmission input shaft bearing. I placed a quick order with VP I’m hoping to get on Saturday. I’ve got everything I need except internal transmission parts. I’m going to get the clutch in tonight or tomorrow and have everything done waiting on the trans fix. I’ve got to make a dummy laygear counter shaft once I figure out the dimensions.

Watch out for wear on the brass rings in the trans. They can make the change baulky/crunchy.

I bought a handful of parts not knowing what I may need. Right now, the trans shifts smooth and I can hop gears downshifting. All the shifting functions and synchronizers seem to be real good. I don’t plan on disassembling the main shaft any further than I have to. However, I purchased 1 synchronizer ring and 4 dog springs along with the input and output bearings, counter shaft for the lay gears, 2 set screws and the roll collar. I have a full gasket kit already. I’ll be able to put it back into service better than it came out. Hopefully not “famous last words”. 😂
