'86 740 Fuel Pump Wiring replacement

Post by rdzhulev »

Hi,
Looking to replace the fuel pump connector and wiring because it's corroded and the wires are exposed. Where does the connector trace to? Is it possible to buy a new connector and splice the wires? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm in the same boat. I'm going to take mine apart in the next few days. Will post back.

I took the driver's side seat out of my 87 745 today to trace those wires. It gives a good opportunity to clean under the seat as well. I took out the driver side carpet and pulled the insulation back as well to get access to the wires. Be careful as the foam and carpet will rip easily. I'm just going to solder and heat shrink tube new wires in and reuse the original fuel pump connectors. I don't believe they are available new but someone correct me if I'm wrong. I hope that helps.
