ok so I have the low pressure turbo
my acceleration is a little ....hmmmm...not smooth
no heck engine lites
I'm thinking fuel filter
does this model have the fuel pump in the tank with the filter sock?
and are there any other filters in the fuel system?
I have new plug wires that will be installed soon as part of my stage zero efforts
maybe I just need a RIP kit....hahhaha ( serious, do those makes a difference? can you feel the speed or is the throttle more instant reponses?)
thanks in advance!

Save money on the RIP kit for doing the stage 0. I'm sure those that claim RIP kits are the best thing ever are the resellers of them. On a standard car I believe it improvement is negligible if any. Just like the cone filter intakes. Most are a waste of money.
Yes there is a fuel filter. On your car it is a can just forward of the RHR wheel under the car.
Neil.

Highly suggest a stage 0 refresh - new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil (use only Bosch - ask me how I know). It’s also not a bad idea to also replace the camshaft and crankshaft position sensor, as faulty ones can and do cause phantom misfires and/or misfire codes

ok
so I will be on the hunt for a new coil. new crankshaft position sensor. a new camshaft position sensor.
these all seem to be plug and play and easily replaceable.
any major issues in replacement? or just dive Right In LOL

Also,
prolly not a bad idea to replace all the hoses and vac / pressure hoses with upgraded silicon
anyone ever done this? seem like a big job with all the routing and stuff, and the engine still in the car
any advice or hints / diagrams?
other then plan on lots of cussing and complaining along the way!

Nope, no real issues. You’ve gotta take the intake box out for the crank sensor, which is pretty easy, and the over the engine pipe has to come off for the cam sensor. Air box has to come out for coil. Also do plugs and wires.surfbug1 wrote: ↑25 Aug 2023, 11:17V50M66 wrote: ↑22 Aug 2023, 21:00 Highly suggest a stage 0 refresh - new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coil (use only Bosch - ask me how I know). Also, only go Genuine or OE on the coil and two sensors. The cheapo ones will fail without warning and if the go, will prevent the engine from starting/running.

actually running lots better!
new wires
new msd high perf coil
new cold air intake from IPD "short intake"
I have to get new plugs in there and do a compression check, then install my Rip Kit .....
that should wake her up even more! but yeah the hesitation is pretty much gone
maybe I have my foot in it so much, just to hear the turbo whine, that I'm not paying attention to hesitation! lol
will have a good idea after plugs comp test and rip kit
thanks!

Plugs will likely be a big difference. Make sure they are gapped to 0.028". Glad to hear there is an improvement!
