I'm very jealous ! :) It seems like you get to participate in a car show every week or two. And on a nice lawn as well.
Nothing like that around here.

No it does not close entirely or your car would be totally starved of air it needs to run. All of my throttle bodies I have spare look like yours and sit slightly open. The position is adjusted for temperature based on external air temp.

Thank you Sveedy, I guess I lucked out when I bought it, I doubt there's a more original 850 left in the UK now in the same condition.

I've been to very few shows this year as I fractured my back in May which put me out the game for a while, just trying to make up for lost time now before the shows finish.

Yes that lawn was amazing, but not as good as it was last year when we were there, I think the wet weather from the last couple of weeks hasn't helped

This was last year

Changed water pump (was leaking like a basket) and the timing belt on my v70 t5 mod-year 2001. 300000Km. Went ok.
(Radiator still leaking as well...)

I pulled the Temp sensor connector plug during engine operation. Was not sure if it would work at all. Fan kicked in and did never stop again, even with reconnected temp sensor... Regardless of Ignition Key position. Interesting was, that the temp gage reads nothing even with engine running and hot. I could fix the problem by disconnecting the Battery for five minutes. Everything back to normal. Maybe it it helps somone out there. Seems that either the ECU or the Fan controller has a fail safe fan operation programmed..... Better kill the Battery than an Engine in a real fault situation. (sorry my english)

Bruno, on Silver Bullet

That start up looks good. It’s still running up to 5000 rpm?

You actually have an idle air valve on a Denso NA ETM. Maybe try unplugging that to see if that’s bleeding air

Thanks, FireFox31, for the ETM startup post. The Geronimo thread is amazing. viewtopic.php?t=98286

Thank you for the offer! It was a busy week at work, and I didn’t have a chance to even think about getting out here.

Update: Here’s video of the ETM while turning the key to position II. Is the throttle plate supposed to close entirely?

That looks like normal operation.

I crossed my fingers and gingerly turned the key, and it ran slowly up to about 2,500 RPM, the settled down to about 1,500 RPM, fluctuating a bit back up to 2,500 and down again a few times. I ordered a new MAF sensor in the meantime.

I did get a new code, P0118, and noticed that my temperature gauge didn’t move even though I ran the engine for a few minutes. In the winter, I’ve noticed that it took a longer than my other P80s time to get the heat going full blast. I’ll order an OE sensor, too.

While not perfect, it is nearer normal, especially if your temp sensor is not registering correctly. Mine will idle around 14-1500 rpm on a cool day for a few minutes and then drop to normal.

Not to my either of my Volvo's, but to my garage/parts-stash..... sorting, and condensing parts to hopefully a single area, and stored in a new cabinet. I found that I had very carefully stored a known bad O2 sensor, even to the point of putting the plastic shield on it from the replacement. Why oh why would I do that???
