My 2001 V70 started having an erratic idle. I first cleaned the throttle plate and intake area and the MAF sensor with no change. After doing some reading I thought removing the TPS and trying to clean the contacts might help. After removing the 4 screws holding the TPS I attempted to pry it from the throttle body and apparently broke something inside of it. The engine is now in limp mode and the throttle position on my scanner constantly reads 16 degrees even when I depress the gas pedal. I have ordered another throttle body (with the yellow tag). After I replace the throttle body will the engine automatically come out of limp mode or will clearing the codes do it or will I need to take it to a dealer?
Also, am I chasing the wrong problem? Could it just be a vacuum leak?

Is this a turbo or non turbo?
Is it a new one 36050563 or a used one on the way?
If used, careful matching of engine type and model year must be done for about a 1 in 4 chance it will match as these throttles have various levels of internal software.

Non turbo. Used throttle body part number 8644347. Don't know what it came off of. Will I be able to have it reprogrammed?

Part number 8644347 is shared with S80, S60 turbo, V70 turbo, V70 non turbo P80, S70 turbo & non turbo.
The software inside is what needs to be matched. If you have a Dice tool and Windows laptop there's a guy who can do it over the internet or PM him and he may suggest for you to send the old throttle and new (2nd hand) one to him over in California.

I know this is way too late. But I just got done going to the same process on an 01 V70 XC wagon throttle body. I popped the throttle position sensor off and broke a wire inside. After getting a new one from out of state I saw where I broke a wire. I repaired it on my old one because the one I ordered from out of state did not match my car perfectly and did not work. But the point is I repaired my old one and it works just good as new now. If you have a problem and you see this with those 01 throttle bodies get a hold of me.
