After market radiator

Post by 98v70dad »

Is there a brand of radiator that is aftermarket that is a quality item (preferably on Rock Auto). There is plenty of cheap junk available and also more expensive junk. Recommendation?

got mine from fcp, approx $240.
2001 to 2007 with integrated transmission cooler.
if you have that style you need to order the trans line clips and green o rings.

PS. you might be in the wrong forum.

Not in the wrong forum. I got rid of the 98 V70 a while back. Its a generic question about good quality aftermarket stuff. There are much smarter people here than the other forum I belong to. Thanks for the response. I always got good stuff from FCP but they don't have anything that fits my truck. Hopefully I don't get banished for asking. Its relevant because if a company makes good after market stuff for volvo probably all their stuff is good quality. I was an active a paying member of this site for a long time.

Good to see you again!

Nissens and Behr and Mahle have made/sold good radiators for Volvos.

On my S60 I replaced the faulty radiator with the cheapest brand I could find, which was NRF. I mean the previous one had an internal leak that mixed ATF-Coolant, not a nice scenario. The new one is larger and has managed to reduce the working temps. Before, the gearbox was 105c, now it never went above 95.

In my opinion, look for the one which is thicker and longer, the dimensions are given in mm.

Also Blackstone and Valeo make great radiators, many of the Volvo factory ones are by them.

TYC has been going strong for 7 years in wife's car. Rockauto special. Even came with the box damaged. I hope i didnt just jinx it...

Also have a TYC blower and a big advocate for that too.

Not really - 96 ford ranger 3L automatic. The ranger replaced my 96 V70 when it melted down. Nearly nothing to chose on Rock Auto for my ranger AND I've never heard of any of them so I have no idea about the quality. If I'm going to the effort I want to use a very good quality part.

Well, I checked all of thos mentioned and none of them have an application for me except TYC. Every TYC part I've ever bought is functional but second rate stuff that fails in a few years. I'm not really sure what to do. The radiator serves a too important function to gamble on it.
