2012 S60 Shifter locked in P, Dash shows a Drive Topic is solved

I'm stumped and can use some input. Unless I use the shifter override the shifter is locked in P. Dash says D.

I thought it was the gear shift mechanism so I replaced the entire unit with a good used one. Did not fix it.

Also can wont shut off since its in Drive.

The brake pedal light / sensor is working properly as the brake lights work.

I can use any advice or ideas you have. Thanks!

More i research more it looks like TCM

Grateful to dealer. Had car towed to Volvo dealer in Nazareth Pennsylvania. They found under the hood shift cable no longer held in place (out of bracket). Did not fit in bracket tightly anymore and they replaced $17 bracket + diagnostic time / labor. No TCM issue; no gear shifter issue. just a plastic bracket and a couple hundred bucks. - its a win! Also note sometimes "shade tree mechanics" like me just don't know where to look. Hope this helps others.
