2008 C30 exhaust manifold broken stud issue

Post by Pretribrapper »

So I figured out why my car is very noisy upon start up. My exhaust manifold bolts by cylinder one were loose. I was able to tighten two of them up but in the process, two more snapped off and I now have two holes that need to have rhe studs removed. To make matters worse, one of the bolts that snapped was the very far one by cylinder 1 and it is hard to access with any sort of extraction device.
Any suggestions?
Any ideas how to remove the broken studs without taking the motor out?
My current plan is to use a center tap to mark an indentation on the bolt in the hole and then use a bolt extractor tool to back it out. I got a right angle drill and a flex drill bit extension but not sure if this will work. One bolt by cylinder 2 should come out fairly easy but the other one not so much.
