rear window defroster switch

Does the rear window defroster switch have a timeout? If so, is the timeout in the switch or somewhere else in the car?

This may sound weird, but I need to fabricate a wiring loom for my Ford Van that didn't come prewired for the heated windshield and I need a switch to turn on the relay for some time and turn off after a few minutes. And I think the p80 switches do that. I hope p80s are old enough that the time out magic may be hidden inside the switch.
