Resetting Oil Life Countdown <5K Miles? (1994 855T)

Can I reset my computer counting oil life by resetting the countdown to illuminating the service light early? I always have changed my oil at 5K but wish to change at ~4K due to a damaged oil filter.

On a car that early, I'm not sure what is possible. Is it not easier to just put a service sticker (IPD sells them) on the inside of the windshield with an earlier oil service reminder? If you have a damaged oil filter I would suggest swap it. If you are worried about your new oil, drain it into a clean container and then re-use it.

I know how to track my old change intervals but I'm wondering if the computer service counter can be reset to 'zero' prior to the service light actually coming on.

It is based on time rather than mileage as I recall. So better to just track it yourself.
