210k timing belt service

Post by wheelsup »

I'm around 210k. Belt was last changed a long time ago. I want to say 2014 or something (yes I know).

Am going to put a new serpentine belt on as well.

I can't for the life of me find the info on here by searching. I replaced the tensioner and rollers along with the water pump @ ~150k.

Anything else I should order or just the two belts?

Did you do the water pump last time around? Some may disagree, but Volvo recommends swapping the water pump every 2 TB changes.

Also check the idler and tensioner bearings. Ensure the hydraulic tensioner unit is compressed slowly as per Volvo instructions. Look for leaks from the tensioner.

While the serp belt is off, check the bearings on all the rotating parts for roughness/noise.

Yeah, everything was replaced back @ 150k. I used a Hepu pump IIRC. At the time, it was recommended to use some sort of white goop to hold the seal in place, so it would be a mess to redo. So not going to do that lol.

So sounds like just the belts. That shouldn't be too bad (famous last words).

With Hepu pumps, just check the bearing while the belt is off. They can be good but sometimes not as good as they should be. I tend to stick to Aisin if possible.

Good Luck!
