Which 2014-2018 S60 should I look for?

Post by GileadGarage »

Hello,

First post here. I have worked on cars forever but only recently got into Volvos a few years ago. My Wife and I both have 2004 XC70's and we really like them. I have done a ton of work on them, but they have been good cars and have been worth the effort. I do all my own work and have a shop at home with lift.

I have other cars specialty/classic as well as my kids cars that keep my wallet empty, so I want to avoid car payments for my daily drivers. Daily drivers go through hell here in VT...

So I am looking to add another Volvo to the fleet for my 70 mile RT commute and was considering a 2014-2018 S60AWD.
It's hard to keep up with all the different models and power train offerings so I am wondering what the gurus here think is the most reliable/DIY friendly S60 engine option from this generation?
I prefer as few driving nannys as possible, are these all the same in terms of disabling TC?

I am considering adding another XC70 instead, and still find some really nice examples out there, but as of now leaning towards the 2nd gen S60.

Thanks!

Mark

I think I narrowed it down to T5/T6 5cyl/6cyl. I just need to better understand which years tend to have oil consumption issues or any other problems I am not aware of. I am a little confused though in that I thought the 2.5 5cyl ended in 2014 but I see that is not the case?

Any opinions on which one of these are more likely to be relatively trouble free in to 200K mile range?
