So it stands for Electronic Coolant Temperature I assume. I have the new coolant temp sensor on the way. Will report back, likely after the 23rd.

Just so you are aware, the only brand I recommend is Volvo OE for this. Any other brand is a crap shoot from bad out the box, to not working right or short life span. I wish you luck!

It seems Standard Motor Products has a good reputation. I assume its like using a Continental timing belt kit.

Is there something bad you have heard about Standard Motor Products? EDIT: I looked at the product page. It is made in Taiwan.

Nope, just never heard of them or their products. Or for that matter this particular part being used on a P80. I truly hope it works as we need a more affordable option to the OE part. Please let us know how it works out!

It's a 100 year old company and fairly well trusted. What they don't make themselves is often re-boxed products by other well known manufacturers. I think it was an SMP branded brake switch that I bought that was simply a reboxed ALPS switch.... the OEM for the Volvo switch.

That is what I am hoping. Other suppliers like Dorman have also been found to do that as well. Time will tell. Hopefully it is a Vernet part reboxed!

Update: I was not able to find my old fuel pump relay. Today I got the new (Pro Parts Sweden) fuel pump relay. Of course it had to be incorrectly manufactured. The bronze pins were insanely longer and wider than factory. Would not fit in the socket. Return opened for it. Also got the coolant temp sensor delivered. Cannot (or will not, not sure) test until the proper relay gets here. That will give me some time for the cold nights to move back in. I did find a Standard Motor Products relay so I should be back on this thread in about a week to report back. Until then, at ease soldiers! LOL

Okay I have a small update. Yesterday I got the new fuel pump relay installed. Started and ran fine. Tonight I went under the hood with the new coolant temp sensor. I was trying to remove the sensor side of the +&- wires. Turns out its the car side of the harness that the wires separated from. Not only that, but I got a true sense of deja vu (dealing with that issue before) which means my statement of the previous owner doing this stupid 'fix' is actually true. I was the previous owner (2021-2/2022) to buy the brand new coolant temp sensor (the last sensor was faulty) and then cut off the sensor side of the plastic harness for the loose harness 'fix'.

The important update is coming Sunday night or Monday night. Thats when I can test the new fuel pump relay after it gets really cold.
