FS: 1994 850 Turbo - the Swedish Interceptor :)

Hey folks,

It's time for me to retire my 1994 Volvo 850 Turbo. It was driven by my daughter until last year, but a couple of problems sidelined it - the dreaded flashing transmission arrow fault means the auto is on it's way out, and it has a slow brake fluid leak, probably from the ABS module. It's also just kinda worn out, but its 30 years old with almost 230k on it. But I had a bunch of fun trying things out when I was active on this site, and I hate to scrap it.

It has the 850R computer, Koni yellows on the front, Bilsteins on the back, a Simmons sport exhaust that came from Sweden via Germany (long story!), a Kinugawa manual wastegate valve, and high flow injectors. Story on those - 3.8 Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe injectors are the same impedance and dimensions, so it runs about 12% rich in open loop which helps keep a turbo engine from melting down. In closed loop the fuel trim corrects for it, so the only thing you'd notice is the indicated fuel economy is a little higher than actual.

It runs stock 850 turbo wheels with 205/50R16 continentals. The front end is worn out a little so the front tires have worn funny. Some of the trim is disintegrating, but years ago I replaced the sunroof inner trim and recovered the headliner, so there are even choice parts inside. AC works but needs recharging about once a year. I didn't use cheap parts on the car, so stuff like the radiator is OEM, and the hardware like mounts, and timing belt accessories are from OE suppliers.

I'm in the Raleigh NC area. Send me a message and I'll try to figure out how to send pics or my service notes. I should get rid of it before the end of the month when the registration runs out, so driving it off to the scrapyard is an option. I'm not really looking for money out of this from anyone who supports the site and the cars (like Robert?), so there's no advantage to try and negotiate me down from nothing! I have the paper title (in my daughters name), so no issues there.
