What OEM Radios will work in a 93 850?

Post by BGPKR »

The model of my OEM radio is an 810. Unfortunately it's dying and I'd like to replace it with a cheap, used OEM repalcement. But i'd like something with the CD in dash. What will work?
Thanks

Cheap is a relative term. The SC-816 has a CD and they are a plug and play replacement for an SC-810.

They usually go off in the $100 to $150 range on eBay.

I paid $120 for mine. The bulb for 1 thru 3 presets are burned out,
but besides that, it works fine.

Another option, better, would to use the SC-810 with a CD changer in the trunk.

Or even better, a USASpec iPod adapter with an iPod (in the glove box) running through the Sc head unit- offers thousands of song choices with control via the Volvo radio. :D

Just to note--the USASpec iPod adapters don't charge the iPhone 3G :( They say there's a cable coming out to fix this in 6-8 weeks or so.

If you want a cheap replacement but no CD I have an 813 out of a 1995 850
(Cassette, no CD) you can have for $25.00 with the code and in 100% perfect condition

Unfortunately the OEM headunit is about dead. The front and rear channels keep cutting out and it's annoying... I have the OEM CD changer but having the CD headunit would give a little flexibility.

I think this is a great deal for JRL's and you can always add an iPod or other unit later- also there's a great write-up in the repair database on how to add your own cable to an OEM unit for MP3 playback that costs very little and you're good with a soldering iron.
