Thanks! I am thinking about it. But first I will get a couple of quotes from local body shops. If they are way out of the park I might try to paint myself. The timing for that won't be great as far as the weather in November, since I would have to do this outside.

Hopefully the quotes are not too crazy. Having painted a front bumper cover previously, I would gladly pay a pro to do it next time and so it can gets baked as well to harden the paint.

Amazing progress to date! Long (well not too long) may it continue to the end!

Nice work, glad your daughter is okay. Paint Society has excellent videos on various repairs besides rattle can.

It took almost exactly 2 months, but Greta is finally rolling again on her own. I took her for a 8 mile test drive last night and besides the expected "coolant low" message, there were no surprises. Not really knowing how strong the impact on the engine was, I was a little nervous about some hidden damage that might have occurred during the accident.

The car would have been done a week and a half ago, but the new Nissens radiator failed right away. The drain cock broke when I opened it to flush the system one more time. It's also a bad design because it only has flats, so you have to use pliers or something to open it. Which means the coolant starts running down your arm as soon as you open it. I did not like that at all and ordered a way more expensive OEM one. Of course no such issue with that. I also like that the OEM one has the metal sleeves in the pipes.

I got everything buttoned up on Monday morning, and then proceeded to polish the headlights in the afternoon. A few items still need to be addressed. The dip stick handle broke off during impact, and I can't get it out. I am also not able to pull the dip stick tube out. I can wiggle it around, but there seems to be a hard stop and it won't budge. Also, there are rubber trim pieces on the bottom corners of the windshield, which also cover the hinges. These broke into pieces when I removed them to install the new hinges. I have not even tried to find replacements for those.

Next is finding a body shop to paint the bumper, wish me luck.

Dirk

Volvo/Mahle radiator is way to go. Install and forget. Also the most efficient ATF heat exchanger. I too installed Volvo radiator after having the factory one bent in an accident, no problem ever since.
